Arizona State University (ASU) FSE100 Introduction to Engineering Practice Exam

Systems are indeed typically multidisciplinary because they often integrate knowledge and expertise from various fields to function effectively. For example, consider a modern transportation system; it requires input from engineering disciplines such as mechanical and civil engineering, as well as areas like economics for cost analysis and environmental science for impact assessments.

This multidisciplinary approach ensures that all aspects of the system are considered, allowing for innovations and solutions that single-discipline perspectives might overlook. When various disciplines collaborate, they can create more comprehensive solutions that address the complex problems inherent in systems, leading to better outcomes overall.

Other options do not capture the true nature of systems. Some might suggest that systems are solely an engineering or science domain, which overlooks the contributions and considerations from disciplines like economics, social sciences, and environmental studies that are equally crucial when developing and managing a system.
